होता॑ध्व॒र्युराव॑याऽअग्निमि॒न्धो ग्रा॑वग्रा॒भऽउ॒त शस्ता॒ सुवि॑प्रः। तेन॑ य॒ज्ञेन॒ स्वरङ्कृतेन॒ स्विष्टेन व॒क्षणा॒ऽआ पृ॑णध्वम्॥२८॥

होता॑ अ॒ध्व॒र्युः। आव॑या॒ इत्याऽव॑याः। अ॒ग्नि॒मि॒न्ध इत्या॑ग्निम्ऽइ॒न्धः। ग्रा॒व॒ग्रा॒भ इति॑ ग्रावऽग्रा॒भः। उ॒त। शस्ता॑। सुवि॑प्र॒ इति॑ सुऽवि॑प्रः। तेन॑। य॒ज्ञेन॑। स्व॑रङ्कृते॒नेति॒ सुऽअ॑रङ्कृतेन। स्वि᳖ष्टे॒नेति॒ सुऽइ॑ष्टेन। व॒क्षणाः॑। आ। पृ॒ण॒ध्व॒म् ॥२८ ॥

होताध्वर्युरावयाऽअग्निमिन्धो ग्रावग्राभऽउत शँस्ता सुविप्रः । तेन यज्ञेन स्वरङ्तेन स्विष्टेन वक्षणाऽआ पृणध्वम् ॥

होता अध्वर्युः। आवया इत्याऽवयाः। अग्निमिन्ध इत्याग्निम्ऽइन्धः। ग्रावग्राभ इति ग्रावऽग्राभः। उत। शस्ता। सुविप्र इति सुऽविप्रः। तेन। यज्ञेन। स्वरङ्कृतेनेति सुऽअरङ्कृतेन। स्विष्टेनेति सुऽइष्टेन। वक्षणाः। आ। पृणध्वम्॥२८॥

Translation
At the ceremony are also present the priest, the minister of rites, the offerer of oblations, the kindler of fires, caretaker of medicinal plants, the directors of ceremonies, and the stage-supervisors. Under their direction, the impressive ceremony continues in an orderly manner. Proper arrangements of water channels are also made. (1)

This refers to certain terms, which in the usual sacrifi cial rites became indicative of different types of priests: hotr (होतृ), adhvaryu (अध्वर्यु), (familiar ones); avayāḥ (आवया:), pratiprasthātr (प्रतिप्रष्ठातृ), who brings and places the offerings; agnimindhah or agnidh (अग्निमिन्धः, अग्नीध्) the kindler of fire; grāvagrābhaḥ (ग्रावग्राभ:) the user ofthe stones that crush the Soma plant; saństr, (शंस्तृ), praśastṛ (प्रशस्तृ), and the last, suvipraḥ (सुविप्रः), which may be the brahmā (ब्रह्मा). According to Dayānanda, hotā is the executor of the sacri fice (यज्ञस्याध्यक्ष:); adhvaryu, is one who desires to perform the sacrifice free from any violence; āvayāḥ (आवया:), who associates himself with the sacrifice; agnim-indhah is the kindler of sacrificial fire; grāvagrābhaḥ is one who receives invocations (also, who holds the clouds): samsta, one who utters praises; and suvipraḥ, the intelligent and learned. Vakṣaṇāḥ, नदी:, rivers. Āpṛnadhvam, replenish, fill the rivers; or offer rivers of butter, milk etc.
