Translation
On every occasion, in every noble work, we invoke the resplendent God, the best among our friends, for our protection and happiness. (1)
Note
According to the ritualists, this mantra, taken from Rgveda I. 30. 7, is addressed to a he-goat. But there is nothing in the text of the mantra to suggest any such conclusion. Tavastaram, बलवत्तरम्, mightier than the mighty. Yoga, action. Vāja, conflict, battle.
